My name is Jen Mock. I am one of the founding members of Premier Arts and Science Charter School and a third grade teacher here at PASCS. My journey to PASCS started when I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Shippensburg University in May 1999 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Upon graduating, I worked at several day care centers in PA and Florida, before finding “my home” at Premier Learning Center in the fall of 2002. I began as the assistant director at Premier Learning Center and was promoted to director in 2007.
While working at Premier Learning Center, I became involved in the opening of Premier Arts and Science Charter School, and I am proud to see all of our hard work and determination pay off. It was a long, sometimes stressful process, but the look on my students’ faces everyday is a reminder of why we were determined to open PASCS and make it a success.
In my spare time, I like to read, travel, and relax with my 13 year old daughter, Jessica and the rest of my family. I am excited to be traveling out of the country with her for the first time this summer, when we will take a much deserved trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. My students think that I am a thrill seeker, as I love roller coasters, and have a desire to go sky diving and parasailing.
Our class has been working hard over the past few weeks on a unit about Greek Mythology. They have been learning about the different gods and goddesses and listening to stories about the Greeks and their interactions with the gods and goddesses. They have been excited everyday to see what immortal being we were learning about and hear the stories about them. The students have been enjoying the stories and have been very involved in discussions about the stories.
After Greek Mythology, we will begin reading the story, Charlotte’s Web, and studying the cities of Harrisburg and Philadelphia. We are even planning a visit from our newly elected mayor, Mayor Papenfuse. We are also excited to be taking a field trip to the Whitaker Center in February.
